Day one of the Brent Key Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 tournament at Georgia Tech on June 4 will see 24 teams from all around the state and a few schools from surrounding states face off to hone their passing offenses and defenses in one of the biggest 7-on-7 tournaments of the summer.
Of the hundreds of players, a handful stand out above the rest.
Kell 4-star athlete Tyriq Green is one of the top players in the class of 2026. Currently ranked as high as the number 140 player in the country according to ESPN, he has 34 offers from schools such as Florida, Florida State, and Auburn. Green plays on both sides of the ball, playing both running back and safety for the Longhorns. As a sophomore in 2023, Green rushed for 769 yards with 10 touchdowns on only 71 carries, along with being one of the hardest-hitting safeties in the state. He will be an important part of the offense and defense, catching passes out of the backfield while also covering some of the opposing team’s best receivers.
Bo Walker is another 4-star player competing on June 4. The UGA-commit has recently transferred from Cedar Grove to Stockbridge, and is coming off a junior season where he helped the Saints to the 3A state title. Walker is joining a Stockbridge team that made the 4A state finals last year, and is stepping into the hole left by graduated star Jayden ‘Duke’ Scott, who is now at North Carolina State. Walker will be the Tigers’ main running back at the event. He will be tasked with creating mismatches out of the backfield, which is something he has excelled at throughout his career.
Walker’s new teammate, Chase Taylor, is another player to watch. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is one of the top players at his position, being ranked as high as the number 15 linebacker in the country by ESPN. He currently holds 25 offers from schools such as Clemson, LSU, and Michigan. Taylor is the top returning tackler from the Tigers’ 2023 state runner-up team, totaling 73 tackles, six tackles for loss, and six sacks. He will be tasked with covering tight ends and running backs in the short game, taking away easy throws from opposing quarterbacks.
McIntosh 4-star tight end Hollis Davidson will be one of the biggest mismatches of the tournament. Davidson is ranked as high as the No. 11 tight end in the country by Rivals. He currently holds 23 offers from the likes of Penn State, Florida State, and Miami. The 6-6, 230-pound TE was a mismatch for opposing defenses all last season, catching 30 passes for 436 yards and three touchdowns. He will be tasked with being the Chiefs’ top target at the event and will have to carry a major load for them to be successful.
